| Abstract: This study was undertaken to examine the impact of system of governance institutions and human capacity building on industrial growth of Nigeria. The study covers from 1986 to 2016. Time series data were sourced from World Bank, Central Bank of Nigeria, etc. The study is based on endogenous growth model and employed Granger causality and ECM technique for data analysis. The ADF tests showed that the variables were stationary. Granger causality tests indicated a unidirectional causal relationship between rule of law, regulatory quality, human capacity building and industrial growth in Nigeria. The ECM coefficient was statistically significant. Findings from analysis show that while some governance institutions indicators significantly and positively impact industrial growth, others do not and that human capacity building insignificantly impact industrial growth. The study concludes that system of governance and human capacity building structures and programmes are ineffective to kick start and drive the needed industrialisation processes. The study recommends that to boost and ensure industrialization in Nigeria, policy should focus to enhance, improve and made more attractive, effective and efficient system of governance and human capacity building structures and programmes. |
