| Abstract: This paper assesses acceptability and utilization of cane woven products among selected Nigerian homemakers. Variables that could provide directions toward the outcome of the paper were studied. Four research questions were raised and one null hypothesis was formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The households?survey research design was used. The total population of the people was 6,743; the sample size for the study comprised 364 respondents drawn at 95% level of confidence and 5% margin error. Copies of questionnaires were distributed randomly in the study area but two hundred and forty copies were finally retrieved and analyzed. The paper revealed that respondents accepted that there are different kinds of cane woven products and they are durable, neat, portable, flexible, attractive and easy-to-use but some of them did not use these products in their various homes because they believed that it is too primitive. Conclusively, these products are indigenous and very unique. It was recommended that more awareness should be created on availability and utilization of these natural materials for its uniqueness and creativity. However, homemakers should be encouraged on the use in homes as against the flair for synthetic products always. |
